Google Plus

Google have dipped there toe again in to Facebook's territory by launching Google+ (Plus).
Here's Google's YouTube Video explaining it all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwnJ5Bl4kLI. Some of you may remember Buzz.
I hoped that when Buzz was launched (Feb 2010) it would make a better impression in the social media world.

Google+ has five basic components: Circles, Sparks, Hangouts, Instant Uploads and Huddle. It also requires a Google profile, meaning you’ll need to provide Google, with a name and a photo.

Judging by what reviews I have read, Google + brings nothing really new to the already crowded social media arena. The thought of not having to jump from one screen to another to check email or Facebook might appeal to some.

I will have to wait to pass judgement on Google's latest gambit, I will keep an eye on my inbox to see if I'm one of the few Google invite to give Google+ a try.

Chrome OS

Well hello everyone! For the last few evenings I have been playing around with Google’s Chrome OS.

If you are not familiar Chrome OS it differs itself from other traditional operating systems such as Microsoft’s Windows by being cloud based. The “Cloud” has been around for a number of years,  under the guise of the “Internet” or the “World Wide Web” in the old days.......... A team from Google have put together a nifty little video explaining it all Click here!!!.

If you are looking to try Chrome OS, I would recommend you give check out these websites I have come across http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/  is a great resource to get you started.
The website has plenty of information for the newbie as well as tech heads.

If you want to delve a little further check out Suhail’s website http://www.suhailkapoor.com/ it’s great for pluggins and additional information.

I would recommend that you go for an early build, the later builds have some code missing so if you are using an Intel based network adapter you will not be able to connect to the Internet. (I started with the newest build first and was not able to connect to the web) you have been warned!

So go grab a cup of your favourite brew, a 4GB USB stick and give it a go!
